Fishing: Lakemont Pines has a catch and release policy for most of the critters found around the lake: water animals (pollywogs, frogs, toads, crawdads, etc) are great fun for the kids to catch and observe, and then must be let go (for the next day!). Blue gill, sunfish and catfish are all ok to keep. Fishermen and women are to have a current state fishing license if over the age of 16. Kids love to use nets to catch the fish and spend hours out on the dock doing so! We have 3 nets and a bucket at the cabin that your kids can use for their critter-catching fun.

Hiking/Walking/Biking (non-motorized) Trails: Within a few minutes’ walk of our cabin there is an entrance to the trail system of the Stanislaus National Forest! Trail info can be found in the Bearadise binder at the cabin. There are relatively flat trails as well as more challenging ones.

Motorized scooters/dirt bikes/ATV use: Motorized vehicles are not permitted for use on Lakemont Pines common property or on local forest trails. Local residents will call the sheriff if they hear them! There are designated ATV trails located within a short drive of Lakemont Pines. You can get information on these trails at the nearby ranger station.

Lodge Use: Reservations for lodge use (either the entire lodge or a small meeting room) must be made in advance through the Blums.

Campfire/Nighttime Use: A campfire, complete with ghost stories and smores is great fun! Evening campfires are allowed in the established fire pit (next to the lake and swing-set) at the lake, with prior approval by the office staff or recreation supervisor. We've taken our younger son's cub scout group out there at night and it is a lot of fun...and beautiful, as well! The lodge office # is 795-1592.

Summer Recreation Program: Lakemont Pines provides a summer recreation program, including lifeguard coverage through most of the summer season. Typically, the season begins in mid-June with staff services on weekends only and with weekday staffing being added in July. Mid-August, services again drop back to weekends only until the season ends on Labor Day. Lifeguard hours are 11-6 p.m. unless otherwise posted. In addition, the Snack Shack provides food items for sale and the Equipment Shed is open. Outside bathrooms are available during lifeguard hours. The Fourth of July is celebrated annually at dark with fireworks under special permit from the fire department (please be aware fireworks are not allowed off site due to the high fire danger). Lakemont Pines also provides additional recreational activities (mainly directed at younger kids) as indicated in the Summer Recreation Calendar or as posted on the bulletin board at the lake. There is a recreation supervisor on staff during the summer managing activities such as crafts, sand castle contests, swimming contests, volleyball games, etc.

Cabin Toys/Board Games/Puzzles: We have a variety of water toys (inflatables, balls, squirt guns, fishing nets) available at the cabin that you are welcome to use.  Additionally, we have horseshoe equipment, croquet equipment, badminton net/equipment, darts and a closet full of board games and puzzles catering to all different ages. Lastly, we have Playstation video games as well as videos (DVD and VHS) at the cabin. You are welcome to use our sleds, as well.

And if things within walking distance weren’t enough…a short drive gets you even more!
