Natural swimming pools created by the river, next to large rock formations.
A few minutes from our cabin, there is a winding dirt (and very rocky) road that takes you to wonderful pools of water fed by the Stanislaus River, and the rocks high above one of the deeper pools can be used as jump-off points into the water...this is a "locals know it is cool" spot, worth the treacherous 25 minute drive to get to it (not recommended for new cars as your car will get scratched!). There is a very steep walk from where you park to get down to the pools (don't haul too many picnic supplies or you'll regret it on the way back)...best to go on a weekday so that it isn't crowded...want to know more? |
