Note that our cabin is a few minutes walk from a trail entrance of the Stanislaus National Forest!
Some favorite, relatively short (good for the family) hikes: Big Trees North Grove, Big Trees South Grove (moderate to long), Natural Bridges trailhead on Parrotts Ferry Road (takes you down to the river and water-caves). New Melones has ranger led hikes year-round as well as self-guided. Hike the trails at our cabin (map for this in at the cabin in the Bearadise binder).
Rockclimbing and bouldering: Mt. Adventure Seminars
There are some awesome boulders in Columbia next to the gold-panning area.
